Chapter 1: The Girl Who Trusted Too Easily
Yangchay had always believed in the goodness of people. She trusted easily—sometimes too easily. Her heart was open, generous, and naive, always giving second chances. But that trust had cost her dearly.
Her ex-boyfriend had been her first love, the person she thought would stay forever. But betrayal came swiftly, quietly, in the form of lies and broken promises. The boy she had once loved was gone—not in presence, but in heart—and all that remained was a shadow of heartbreak that clung to her soul.
Months passed. She tried to distract herself with work, hobbies, and the company of friends, but the memory of him haunted every quiet moment. Every smile she forced was a mask. Every laugh she made was hollow. She couldn’t forget him, and she didn’t know if she ever would.
Life, however, had its way of surprising people. One ordinary evening, while she was walking home through the park, umbrella shielding her from the drizzle, a voice called her name.
“yangchay?”
She looked up, startled, and found herself facing kelden. He was tall, calm, and his warm brown eyes seemed to see right through her defenses. He smiled gently, the kind of smile that made her heart skip—not with fear, but with a strange, new hope.
“I… um… I’ve been wanting to talk to you,” he said softly. “Can we sit?”
And despite her caution, she found herself nodding.
